with Matt Hensch

ThrashPit's Matt Hensch has set out on a new mission. While not news we figured a lot of the Day in Rock readers would be interested. Here is Matt to tell you a bit about it: There are literally hundreds of metal albums that stand as classics in the genre: Iron Maiden's Seventh son of a Seventh son, Black Sabbath's Paranoid, Slayer's Reign in Blood. I could go on forever listing all the great albums metal has produced, but such a huge genre is bound to leave some classics buried in the dust. Do albums of this glorious magnitude remain forgotten, or do they even exist at all? To answer the question: yes, there are MANY fantastic metal CDs floating around the world that didn't receive proper attention or coverage in their own time. You can certainly find rare CDs to buy, but which ones are good? Which bands are great? What do they sound like?

Don't stress out, because with my new column, Unearthing the Vaults, you will get my take on unknown bands and their great CDs, but with fun facts about the group and the easiest purchasing method with a short bio written by me. Unearthing the Vaults will run twice a month, and will feature a new band each time.
