Epicurean's Metal Blade debut is an interesting and powerful collection of quality metal songs. There are a lot of interesting melodies, as well as the staple characteristic of any good metal record. Epicurean also incorporates progressive elements into its music, which gives some of the songs an ambient, relaxed feel. The singing and the keyboards scattered throughout the record give it a distinctly European feel, despite the band's homegrown American roots.
This album is a decent release that serves the purpose of helping cement the band's place in metal. Keep on the lookout for future projects, because based upon A Consequence of Design, listeners can expect good things.
