Okay. Let me name three moshcore/metalcore bands: Throwdown. Hatebreed. Bury Your Dead. Yes, I know those are three of the more popular bands in the music scene (or whatever you want to call it), but I think three is all the world really needs. Born From Pain's release War feels to me as if Throwdown drank some crude oil, threw it up on Hatebreed and Bury Your Dead got punched in the face by Hatebreed because of it all. Somehow, a degenerated fetal-alcohol-syndrome love child was created in the mix. Basically, its some palm-muted repeated riffs with double bass pedal in the background all behind one guy (or a crowd) yelling. Nothing out of the ordinary. And I mean, sure, circle pits are fun and slow-down-breakdowns can be too, but come on, an entire CD of the same old stuff? It's tiring and boring. But I'm gonna cut this one short with a mention to the epic-ish song on the album: "The Was Is On." This song had a bit of style: no vocals and no changes. Wow.
Blah blah blah, this War is nothing special. I was anticipating this album's delivery to me, but sadly I was disappointed when I realized it was pretty lame. I'd toss this album to my friends who like Throwdown, Hatebreed, and Bury Your Dead but only because it's no different from how those bands sound. Blah.
