Lollapalooza
'99: Guns n; Roses, Goo Goo Dolls, Offspring, No Doubt and Collective Soul?
The rumor mills are filled with
talk of Guns n' Roses headlining the Lollapalooza festival this summer.
Nothing is set in stone,
but GNR has been contacted and is said to be considering joining the summer
tour.
Other names mentioned are
the Goo Goo Dolls and Collective Soul. In addition tour organizers have
contacted the Offspring, No Doubt, and Marilyn Manson.
Manson is a sure no show,
and No Doubt and the Offspring appear to be long shots at this point.
GNR has also been mentioned
as a possible band to be featured on the OzzFest next summer. Sources close
to the band say they hope to have a new record out by next summer to correspond
with any tour plans.
Last summer Lollapalooza
was scraped due to lack of a major Headliner. The Alternative Festival
is now waking up to the fact that alternative music is not the draw it
once was, and to maintain the festival they need to sign acts that are
not strictly alternative. They did it before with Metallica in '96. Organizers
are still uncertain if there will even be a Lollapalooza this year, but
the chances of the summer festival reappearing this summer has greatly
increased over the past month.
