Gradys - Die Mindless Fools EP
By Greenmuse
When I got this cd I knew it was either
going to kick ass or suck the proverbial goat's butt, with the self printed
CD label and cover art it could go either way. After the first bar of the
first track I knew it was going to be good. How can anything with the A-Team
theme song be bad? That's right the first track is a rockin version of
the tune that was etched into the mind of nearly anyone my age or older.
I could breathe easily knowing these guys
weren't going to piss all over Johnny Thunders and Dee Dee Ramone's grave
by doing a second rate cover of "Chinese Rocks". All the tracks are quality
slices of punk rock, fast as hell and able to strip paint at 30 ft. (honestly
I do have a wall with a CD player 30 ft away. If it doesn't strip the paint
of the wall, it fails the gm test of goodness) fairly well written though
Earl-y is in no danger of becoming the modern day Jello Biafra. But the
band seems to have a bit of honesty that shines through the over peppering
of the f dash dash dash word and really makes this band appeal to me. I
hope they come to South Florida. I'd love to see em live.
Pros: good old fashioned punk rock.
Funny samples, especially the last one
of the pissed off drummer. Probably why their drummer is listed as David
Koresh on the inside sleeve. The hidden track this sample leads to is funny.
Oddly catchy, I bet more than one person
has gone about singing "some motherf*ckers just shouldn't be alive. " and
"you f*ckin pig I hope you die, hope you burn, I hope You fry in motherf*ckin
hell with me" (see I told you they like the naughty words)
The A-Team theme song!
Cons:
The vocalist sounds a little like the
guy from Guttermouth (not bad, I just kept thinking about the tune "Gods
Kingdom" by Guttermouth)
It's only an EP, I wish it was longer.
