The Strays - Le Futur Noir Review

by Greenmuse

.
The Strays: toss in a spoonful of the Clash, a dash of the political lean of Dead Kennedys, add a pinch of Nirvana and a half cup of the New York Dolls and bake for an hour. I think I caught a whiff of the Stooges as well, but that might just be my feet. Yet for all that ooey gooey goodness, I didn't like it all that much. I couldn't help feeling like "I'm not even close to being cool enough to listen to this. I better hit that vintage clothing store and pick up a tight t shirt". picture an albums worth of ipod commercial and you'll be near spot on. despite that rather, harsh and mean spirited description, that's not to say I hated it. It just isn't my cup of tea. but I'll say this, you'd be hard pressed to not want to get up and do your best Iggy Pop dance to these tunes and if you know how much I like to do that dance, you know this isn't something I toss about willy-nilly. this album is catchy without being hokey and rocks harder than an off centre table at Applebee's.
