Shaan Sharma - The All New End Review
by Morley Seaver
.
This four-track EP from the Minnesota-born Sharma is a winner from beginning to end. To start with, his voice is a clear tenor that automatically puts your ears at ease with its easy-going ambience. Then you go to the songs and the guy hits it out of the park with all four. The material is of the pop-rock variety that wouldn't sound of place on the O.C. Sharma has this sense of melancholy resonating through out the songs that makes him seem really earnest in his delivery. His songs all have a radio-friendly quality about them yet they're not the type to wear off quickly like candy floss. The first cut "20 Years" kicks off the set on a high note with the great verses shaded by an excellent chorus that delivers without trying too hard. It's almost edged out by the awesome final track "Untold" that is understatedly emotional. Shaan Sharma is a terrific songwriter that should make waves in the future. The fact that he's an indie artist might work against him in this regard. He needs to get his music out to the right people and it's unclear as to whether he can do so. In the meantime, people who like quality music in the vein of a Josh Kelly should pick up this CD.
