This CD is a collection of duets with Jerry Lee Lewis (the last man standing among the founding fathers of rock and roll) and some absolute music industry legends. The album begins with Jerry Lee and Jimmy Page playing "Rock and Roll." Let me tell you something. Even at 71 years old, Jerry Lee can still pound the rockin' 88s. From there, the album includes duets with BB King, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, John Fogerty, Willie Nelson, Little Richard, Buddy Guy, and Kris Kristofferson among others. There are a few head-scratchers that seem mildly out of place among all the rock n roll legends. Namely Toby Keith (doing what he does best - singing about the ol' red, white and blue) and Don Henley.
This is a great CD. And why wouldn't it be? This is freakin' Jerry Lee Lewis! That being said, some highlights for me include:
o Evening Gown (with Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood)
o Travelin' Band (with John Fogerty)
o That Kind of Fool (with Keith Richards)
o Sweet Little 16 (with Ringo Starr)
o A Couple More Years (with Willie Nelson)
o Hadacohl Boogie (with Buddy Guy.
Whoever conceived this album should be commended. What a tremendous collection for songs from a tremendous collection of artists. If you are a fan of old-time rock n roll, this is an album you need to add to your collection. Trust me, you'll get your money's worth.
