Quick & Dirty review of the Reissues of Run-DMC, King of Rock, Raising Hell, Tougher Than LeatherWithout a doubt, Run-DMC was one of the most influential musical aggregations to come along in the past couple of decades. Their style of rap took the genre off the street corner and put it smack dab in the middle of the living room. The trio took the sound to the masses and paved the way for the hip-hop explosion. They even dared to tamper with the holy grail of hard rock, mashing it up with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry for a banging version of Aerosmith's "Walk this Way." And their tours with youngsters, the Beastie Boys, are the thing of legend. Jason Mizell, better known as Jam Master Jay, was gunned down by some idiot gangsta in 2002, ostensibly bringing the group to an end. Rev Run remains extremely visible today with a show (Run's House) on MTV and his new solo record, Distortion. Now Run-DMC's first four albums have been re-released, each with bonus material, mostly previously unavailable stuff. Here is a listing of the bonus tracks:
