Motorhead - Kiss of Death Review
by Zane Ewton
.
What you see is what you get with Motorhead. When what you get is as good as Kiss of Death you will be begging for more. Motorhead has honed their attack to its essential elements. Every ounce of fat has been trimmed away. The band can be accused of repetition. They can also completely destroy everything in sight. The first five tracks on Kiss of Death are so commanding the record could have ended there. Lemmy sounds particularly engaged. His vocals range between hell's messenger and the swaggering metal icon that he is. Motorhead adds some heft to their speed. This complements the band well and gives the less memorable songs a distinguished vibe. Fortunately the filler is in short supply on Kiss of Death. From the devilish first track "Sucker" through a mid album acoustic-tinged "God Was Never on Your Side" to the crunchy "Be My Baby", the Motorhead machine shows no signs of slowing down. Motorhead has stormed into a groove the last few years. Each record has been quality goods and they keep tearing up the world's stages. Lemmy continues to defy age and respectability. The world is a better place because of it.
