The Moore Brothers - Murdered by the Moore Brothers Review
by Zane Etwon
.
The Moore Brothers are actual brothers from Altadena, California. Each had worked in different bands since the late 1980's before joining up as a duo not long ago. Comparisons to Simon and Garfunkel have been tossed around based on the brother's vocal abilities and reliance on simple acoustic guitar. That comparison is spot on. The first track of Murdered by the Moore Brothers tinkles slowly with a minimal piano intro and then from nowhere soaring vocal harmonies come out of the speakers. Much of the album has the same southern California vibe that inhabited such notables and The Byrds and Crosby, Stills and Nash. The songs tend to melt into each other. The air of nostalgia and a warm autumnal feeling sucks you in and wraps around like the heat of a campfire. None of the songs stand out from the rest. Murdered by the Moore Brothers works better as a whole album, a pleasing voyage of humor, sentimentality, a hint of darkness and most importantly, simply outstanding vocals. Fans of the contemplative singer songwriter types will find their new favorite band. Everyone else can enjoy the simple pleasure of two guys who were born to sing together.
