KC and
the Sunshine Band Live
Niagara Falls, New York – 9/15/06

Armed with a knowledge of the music, they
came for a party. And party they did. On Friday September 15 as a part
of the Rock the Falls series the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls,
New York presented an evening with KC and the Sunshine Band.
On a perdect western New York summer night
a local band called the Party Squad got things started. A classic rock
cover band the quintet played songs made popular in the 1960s. The band
had the ability to sound much bigger than they were; but the Party Squad's
real talent laid in the talents of their drummer Mark Dixon. He could sound
like the original artist of the song - in this show it was Sir Mick Jagger
and Louis Armstrong.
After a short break the stage resembled
a storm with thunder and lightening as the Sunshine Band took the stage.
Harry Wayne "KC" Casey opened the show with "Shake Your Booty" clad in
a glittery blue jacket. Asking the crowd what had happened KC discussed
his 33 year musical career. KC said that when he started performing Cher
had just begun her farewell tour. He then asked the crowd of varying ages
if the young people knew who he was. He then told them, "we were your mother's
N'Sync."
KC and the Sunshine Band spent the next
hour and a half - no intermission - singing all of their hits with numerous
interludes of other music from the disco era. Many of the interludes were
for the dancers to entertain the crowd while KC went through a costume
change - always in glitter. A dance floor complete with a spinning mirror
ball was available for those who chose to use it, but most of the fans
danced at their seats as they sang along.
The band did not perform an encore - KC
had already done all his music. But he did make himself available to fans
after the show.
