Funky Nashville - Hitch A Ride Review
by Sherrill Fulghum
.
The music of Funky Nashville has nothing to do with their name - well maybe the funky part. But this trio's only connection to Nashville is the name. There is no relation to the city or music of Nashville. In fact Funky Nashville aren't even from the United States. The boys of Funky Nashville are from Denmark. In typical European style Funky Nashville combines a variety of musical styles to create their sound including bluegrass and rock. The guitar player sounds like he belongs in one of the old westerns like "Peter Gunn". Funky Nashville's lead singer Sverre Stein Neilsen has a voice that I could listen to all night. The music on Hitch A Ride was inspired by the meeting of an American storyteller who regaled the band of his adventures one September night in Copenhagen. Hitch A Ride is one of those CDs that you will want to listen to over and over again. This eleven song CD has not one but three bonus tracks including a funky version of "Witch Queen of New Orleans" for a total of 14 songs. So "Hitch A Ride" with Funky Nashville and join them on their musical adventures.
