Domeshots fans who have been around since "Self Titled" will find much growth & excellence on this second release. It is much harder & faster, without losing any of the complexity and charm that was so appealing and evident on their first release. For those new to Domeshots, this album stands alone.
Bands capable of releasing entire CDs of original music that pleases the ear, with interesting, insightful & sometimes humorous lyrics are a rare thing in the wild. Domeshots has even refined this almost quixotic process in such a way to produce songs that are almost instantly memorable and engaging.
That makes it incredibly difficult to write an informative review. This album must be listened to; mere words will simply not suffice to convey any of this.
Having issued that disclaimer, I will attempt it anyway. The CD starts off as if demonstrating that all their exhaustive touring hasn't worn them down too substantially, and then each successive song tries to outdo the one before it, with even more energy, creativity and all the stuff that makes for a great song. Their slower songs aren't ridiculously sappy, their faster ones don't sound repetitively annoying. This is a band with some major talent and promise, who are not too shy to demonstrate this certifiable fact.
Given their ambitious tour schedule, which has them playing all over the western US in little over a month, and their excellent releases, I am surprised they don't have even more fans & fame. Hopefully this album changes all that. Domeshots coming to a town near you seems inevitable, go see 'em & buy this CD!
