American Idol's rocking contestant of season five has found his place in the musical scheme of things and it isn't spouting a two minute karaoke rendition of the theme of the week. North Carolina's Chris Daughtry was awarded a spot on the show for his talents as a singer and though he tried hard every week to find music to suit his talents; it was clear early on that this talented musician was out of place in a show designed for crooners and cookie cutter pop singers. But all is far from lost. Chris has dropped his first name, formed a band, and released an album of his music. The self-titled album "Daughtry" is a collection of 12 songs of pure rock and roll. Some of the songs were written by Chris himself - a songwriter since the age of 16.
Chris' voice and talents shine through on his debut album. A refreshing change from the releases by new artists in recent years who seem to enter a record label and come out the assembly line stamped into the record labels cookie cutter image of the day.
Chris' decision to form a band of his own instead of fronting an already established band was the right thing to do. Hopefully we will hear much more of this artist in the future.
