Against All Authority - Restoration If Chaos And Order Review

My first taste of this band came from the time I reviewed the Against All Authority and common rider split*sigh*, Jesse Michaels. I found Against All Authority favorable. So I was excited to review a full album from them. so alas, here I am. First off, I gotta say the artwork already won me over. who doesn't love John Yates's work? So with that, I already had good expectations of this album… and let me tell you, it didn't let me down. An interesting side note, this album is dedicated to Brian Deneke, which oddly, a few nights before this album arrived I was for whatever reason thinking of him at work. Now if you don't know the sad tale of Brian Deneke, I suggest you do a search on it right after reading this. In fact, there is even a tune on here about dear Brian "Sunshine Fist Magnet". It's one of my favorites on here as well. Sound wise this is unabashedly new school punk rock. Some tunes have dandy little ska tinge to them, which I personally happen to like. Topics range from the war on terror to the Dade punk scene(I'm a bad man, I didn't know these guys are basically from the same town I live in. ). So it's good hearing things about Cutler Ridge and Biscayne Bay, since I've been there before. . . I may not ever want to go back, but I've been there. My favorite track on here has to be "silence is golden, but duct tape is silver". It's catchy and involves lines about throwing bricks and Mohawks. Being a fan of both this is a natural favorite for me. Basically its just about being punk rock kids with nothing to do. "Sunshine Fist Magnet" is another favorite. Possibly the strongest song on here. It makes good use of one of the most chilling quotes to ever come out of someone's mouth (the guy who ran down Brian Deneke reportedly said "I'm a ninja in my caddy" as he ran over Brian"). "Circle Pit" is another strong tune, it's basically what it says. It's catchy and most likely would lead to a circle pit forming in my living room but a one man pit is hardly a pit. . . . well, if I worked hard enough it might be. . In short this release is dandy and for people who like their punk rock catchy and leftist. I'm honestly surprised you don't hear more about these guys.
