3 Days Grace

"Out of Good Ideas for Writing
Music"
How do you release an album composed of
other people's tunes & not get sued? This is the question that mires
many lesser bands hopelessly in the rut of despair & leads to the tragedy
of woulda- beens breaking up before realizing their potential. 3 Days Grace
is determined to be the most educational force in nature on that subject
& help struggling bands with this dilemma with the release of their
new experimental album. On this release, they hope to figure out the answer
to that for the enlightenment of the masses. SOAD, Weezer, Disturbed, Seether,
Boy Bands, American Idol Wanna Be's, DON'T SUE! Please allow 3 DG the opportunity
to figure this out without negative repercussions for trying hard to blaze
a trail for bands that aren't original enough to think of their own material
so they come dangerously close to just copying yours! This is an important
contribution for humanity, who knows how we all will benefit from these
brave few pioneers daring to tackle the subject others disdain in their
musical snobbery!
One technique demonstrated on this album
is the clever recycling of their own music, which leads newer & less
original bands in one possible way to deal with heading off litigation.
And you don't see 3 DG whipping out the subpoenas & legal dogs &
suing themselves, do ya? Follow their gracious lead, all you bigger, more
well established bands- let them play your songs with their lyrics! If
Weird Al can do it, why can't serious bands? This is bringing me near tears
in my vehemence on this subject! The right to borrow is timeless, where
would civilization be without it, etc. insert your arguments here, help
me!!
Their one song that sounds completely original
is a lovely ballad suitable for framing, revealing 3DG's stacks & reeking
mounds of talent. These are truly renaissance men, not only instructing
& demonstrating, but doing it in such a way that even us peons not
in a band & not interested in better ways to steal music can have our
lives enriched too.
Yup, this is a fine album. Makes me proud
to be part of a free society. RAWK ON, 3DG!!

About "Let's Get Dolly":
In January (2005) antiMusic readers were introduced to a colorful writer
known as Dolly Doppelganger when her Veridical Polemic column debuted.
That column almost never happened, but Dolly pestered us until we relented
and gave her a chance. The results speak for themselves. You may not know
this but Dolly originally applied for a reviewer position. Fast forward
to mid-January, antiGuy asked me if we had any CDs to review that have
been sitting around for a while. I named a few and he shook his head and
said, "I'll pass, I don't know who you would get to review some of those!"
As those words escaped his lips, the solution came to me, "Let's get Dolly!
She loves everything!" So, I gave Dolly a few CDs to try out her reviewing
skills on and what I got back is classic Dolly. You may not learn much
about the actual CDs, and you will learn far too much about Dolly's ideas
but in the end if you are a Dolly fan you'll love her latest contributions
to antiMusic. If you are looking for regular reviews of these cds, look
somewhere else. Dolly don't play that. - Keavin Wiggins, Editor antiMusic.com
