Teri Falini - Sun Under Me Review
by Kevin Wierzbicki
.
Falini plays electric guitar and writes all her own songs. She's backed by a full band on Sun Under Me, and
although it is not Nirvana, she tries her best to be Kurt Cobain. A few things keep her from reaching her grungy goal, though. The first is her tendency to sound like a punky Lucinda Williams, an enticing concept at first thought, but something that just doesn't work out. The second is that a lot of her lyrics come across as cutesy, again something that doesn't pay off. Falini has some good things going for her but made the mistake of relying primarily on herself as producer of this material, much of which showcases her vocal shortcomings. If this effort had been cut down to a 5 or 6-song E.P. and punched up a little, people would be talking. But as it stands, this release will do little to move Falini beyond a regional fan base.
