Sunshine - Moonshower and Razorblades Review
by Kevin Wierzbicki
.
Ever wonder what Billy Corgan's music would sound like if he were from somewhere behind (the former) Iron Curtain? Some dark corner of the world where the real vampires crawl; someplace where the men are men and so are the women? No need to hold that thought---four wild and crazy guys from the Czech Republic calling themselves Sunshine will be happy to shed some rays of enlightenment on you. Lead singer Kay (pronounced kay-eye) still has a full head of hair but otherwise he's got a Corgan riff going full on, both vocally and instrumentally. Kay (no last names, they're from the Czech Rep. remember, you couldn't handle it) is also one of two guitarists (Jiri is the other) and some songs are structured with the standard one-on-lead, one-on-rhythm. But give them half a chance and both guitars will take the first side road available; the map's out the window and the thermos is sloshing caffeine and mescaline all over the dashboard. About a third of the way into this one I had to check the freezer for vodka (there was) and when it was over I had to go out and find something to bite on the neck (not telling).
