Pepper - Kona Town Review
by Dan Cappello

.
Well Sublime may have died with singer Brad Nowell, and the whole style of music may have died with Sublime, but a band named Pepper is out there doing their best to keep this reggae/aggressive punk rock style still flowing. Also from Southern California this band is out there showing people that Sublime is not the only band who can mix reggae with punk.

Their album Kona Townis a slow starting album. From tracks one to four it can be a little boring and may put you to sleep. However from track five on it is a whole new album. Songs like "Tradewinds" and "Stormtrooper" are fun catchy songs. They really work that reggae style in with good punk rock and it flows very nicely.

The one thing I like about this album is that it is good beach music. Pop this CD in the stereo while catching some rays, and play the song "B.O.O.T" nice and loud so every beach babe can hear the chorus "Why don't you have some dirty hot sex with me." I don't promise that this will help you get some action, but it could be funny to see people's reactions when it is playing.

If you are not into chilling at the beach the album can provide great music for you and a few friends who decide to order Chinese food, pull out some rolling papers, and…well you get the picture.

Overall the album is not too bad. I wouldn't say that they are the next Sublime but they have some good songs, and have still managed to keep that famous style alive. If you are a big fan of ska music or reggae punk rock, whatever you want to call it, than I would say check these guys out.
