Bril - The 4th Iteration
By Jen Procop

The 4th Iteration is the first EP offering from the alternative pop UK band, Bril. On first listen you cannot help make the parallel between the Bril and England’s favorite export, Coldplay.  Bril’s front man Dave Starr sings with the same mixture of pleasure and angst thats were so prevalent Coldplay’s earlier works (Brothers and Sisters, Shiver) although the artistic gift and musical mastery isn’t there yet.

On the bright side, Bril has some obvious skill that is undeniable on The 4th Iteration.

The five track CD showcases a range of Bril’s talent, seesawing through softer, more contemplative tracks mixed with some faster intense offerings. Highlights of the EP include “Whenever you are gone” and Don’t you Change”

This CD is worth checking out, especially since it is the very first taste of what Bril can do. I am looking forward to seeing some growth and maturity from the band- I anticipate we will be hearing more from them!
