Molly – Kung-Fu Cocktail Grip
Label:
Kool
Arrow Records
Release
Date: April 17, 2001
Rating:
Just when you thought it was safe for pop
music Tad Doyle returns to the scene to knock some sense into the music
buying public. Those familiar with Tad’s former band, aptly named Tad will
rejoice at this new offering, Hog Molly. Its every bit as offensive as
“God’s Balls” and “Inhaler“ except where Tad harkened back to the hard
rock and metal sounds of the late 70’s (often being called the heaviest
band from the Seattle scene at the height of “grunge”), Doyle’s new group
Hog Molly is cut more from the mold of Motorhead meets modern metal.
Kung-Fu Cocktail Grip contains 15 full
throttle - in your face tracks filled with heavy guitars, skin bashing
and throat destroying vocal screams; in other words, everything a good
metal album should have. Tad Doyle is back and ready to kick some
serious ass!
Highlights:
Mr. Right kicks you in the teeth and beats
you senseless and this is only the opening track. Octapussy has some really
cool change ups and guitar work. Heatstroke driving bass and biting lyrics
make this a new Tad Doyle classic. Hogchronicity contains a great guitar
solo intro and the lead is the closest you’ll find to classic Tad. Punk
rocking Bitch Slapper is sure to make feminist see red. Bottom line,
if you like heavy music the entire CD rocks!
Low Points: While Hog Molly isn’t breaking
any new ground musically, there really isn’t a low point to this CD. If
you like one track, chances are the rest will appeal to you.
The
Bio
.
It's hard to keep an innovator down, especially
when that mastermind has not yet seen the full potential of his vision
realized. 2001 marks the return of one of the most inspired, yet often
misunderstood talents of tock music...Tad Doyle. .
Yes, the man who brought the world such
renowned classics as God's Balls & 8-Way Santa is back, rejuvenated
and refueled with his new band, HOG MOLLY and a sound so deeply entrenched
in anti- mainstream-isms, one cannot help but listen and be charmed by
its simplistic and ultra-heavy tones!
Hailing from Seattle, birthplace of the
Grunge movement, Tad was always known for following the beat of a different
drummer, more intent on simply rocking out rather than biting from a trend...and
that is where the latest chapter in his legacy unfolds. HOG MOLLY's debut,
Kung r-u Cocktail Grip is 15 tracks of no-holds-barred, in-your-face vintage
Tad Doyle -relentless, driving hooks & thick-as-molasses sludge grooves
bound by streetwise tenacity! The album is produced by Jack Endino, legendary
for molding & harnessing the raw energy of bands in the Seattle area,
having worked with the likes of Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, L7, Supersuckers,
Nebula...and even earlier recordings by a man named TAD!!
Kung Fu Cocktail Grip will be released
on April l7th through Bill Gould's (ex-FAITH NO MORE) own Kool Arrow Records,
an up-and-coming label embracing the kind of diversity perfect for HOG
MOLLY's unique brand of smoldering Rock. HOG MOLLY transcends the pigeonholing
process of labeling, the band epitomizes extreme. it's not Metal, it's
not Hardcore, it's not Punk -it just Rocks!!!!! Look for the band to decimate
stages across the country throughout spring.
HOG MOLLY...pioneering a new era of heavy
music!
